POD
The guys from P.O.D. grew up in the city of San Ysidro, a.k.a. "Southtown," a diverse community down near the California/Tijuana border. In 1992, the versatile drum-playing Wuv invited his hip-hop devotee cousin Sonny to take the mic in a fledgling hardcore combo he'd started with his guitarist friend, Marcos. With the addition the following year of the Cleveland-born Traa on funk-driven bass, P.O.D. was complete. They blew up stages with punk heroes like Green Day, Pennywise, and the Vandals, in venues ranging from skate parks to YMCAs, selling over 40,000 copies of four independent CDs on their own Rescue Records label before linking with Atlantic in 1998.

"Blind Willie"Johnson
(ca. 1902-ca. 1950).
"Blind Willie" Johnson, Texas blues man and virtuoso of the "bottleneck" or slide guitar, was born in Marlin, Texas, about 1902, and blinded at age seven. He taught himself to play the guitar and accompanied himself as he performed at Baptist Association meetings and churches around Hearne, Texas. He sang in a "rasping false bass," and played bottleneck guitar with "uncanny left-handed strength, accuracy and agility." So forceful was his voice that legend has it he was once arrested for inciting a riot simply by standing in front of the New Orleans Customs House singing "If I Had My Way I'd Tear The Building Down," a chant-and-response number that stimulated great audience enthusiasm. Johnson's celebrity career ended with the Great Depression, after which he continued to perform as a street singer but did no further recording. He died in Beaumont around 1950. He left behind a legacy of musical masterpieces, some of which have been rerecorded on Yazoo Records, and his songs have been covered by many throughout the years including Led Zeppelin. His work includes such classics as Nobody's Fault but Mine, Dark Was the Night-Cold Was the Ground, God Don't Never Change, Mother's Children Have a Hard Time, Bye and Bye I'm Going to See the King, God Moves on the Water, Jesus Make Up My Dying Bed, and I Know His Blood Can Make Me Whole.

Ressurection Band (Rez)
We were basically just people in their late teens who had all come through various mishaps and mayhem, as far as our own personal lives, with drugs and the whole nine yards. The majority of the people in REZ come from divorced families and problems and struggles. We've all been involved in different levels of drug abuse and alcoholism and sexual sin and we all had grown up listening to Rock and Roll, so when the Lord formed the band as an outreach of the community, it was simply trying to speak to people like us, who were seeking, in a language that would draw people to Jesus.

Barlow Girls
We met these sisters Barlow's their last name - Ordinary girls they don't live in the fast lane - They don't rate with the guys that score - Coz they don't flaunt what the boys want more - They don't date they won't date - They wanna see how they're gonna grow up Who they're gonna be - But in the mean time they might feel unloved - When all the girls around them are hooking up - But I know for sure It's never popular to be pure - And some guys might be passing them by - I think they've caught someone's eye - All the boys in the band want a valentine From a Barlow Girl - Boys think they're the bomb 'cuz they remind them of their mom - Everyone needs to be loved - Everyone needs their own teenage fan club - Any attention could feel like a good thing - Dress to impress can be oh so tempting - you can get noticed with your body - sexual hypnosis by being haughty - you might feel like public property - you might you might you shouldn't be - No girl should feel she has to trade Her body for love or be an old maid
- And yes there are guys who are willing to wait - Ask a Barlow girl on her wedding day

Reverand Gary Davis
Gary Davis was born April 30, 1896 in Laurens, South Carolina. Davis was a finger-style Bluesman and he developed a unique approach to his picking that has influenced generations of guitarists, including Jerry Garcia, and Ry Cooder, among others. And as a composer of Christian and secular music he created a substantial body of work that has been covered by many performers over the years. Guys like Bob Dylan, Jackson Browne, Peter Paul & Mary and the Grateful Dead, all took turns with Davis' work. Gary Davis' Early musical experiences at Center Raven Baptist Church in Gray Court, South Carolina, and most importantly his strong Christian faith helped him cope with blindness throughout his entire life, and in 1933 he was ordained, and ministered at the Free Baptist Connection Church in Washington, North Carolina. For years he toured and ministered as the quintessential Gospel Bluesman in churches, and in the streets, mostly in Durham. During this period he became acquainted, and eventually recorded with, Blind Boy Fuller and other "Piedmont style," or "Ragtime" musicians, such as Brownie McGhee and Sonny Terry. By 1940 Reverend Gary Davis had made his way to New York City, where he became the pastor of Missionary Baptist Connection Church. Gary Davis died on May 5, 1972 in Hammonton, New Jersey.
